Parker's Praise & Prayer

I have started a new study of the Gospels on my blog.
I try to make a new post Monday through Friday. I invite you to join me.

Mishaela's blog: www.simplyshaela.blogspot.com

January 11, 2018

PRAISE:
1. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year with all of the kids at home with us. We are so happy they could come and so proud of all God is doing in and through them.
2. The ministry was able to close out 2017 with all our bills current. This has been a challenge with the economic crisis in Brazil.
3. We are finishing our second week of camp in all we had about 350 campers plus staff with many decisions for Christ. Gary speak at the campfire service tonight.

PRAY:
1. For the next two weeks we will be hosting, and Gary will be taking the first two modules of the Doctorate in Ministry program that Dallas Theological Seminary is offering in Brazil. Pray all will go well and for great growth in our lives.
2. Pray for our kids as they return to their lives. Mishaela was just promoted to a new position at Children’s Hunger Fund, Joshua is overseeing the opening of a second location for their church and Mackenzie is preparing to return for a second year in Portugal.
3. Due to budget constraints, we are letting three of our employees go. This is always hard for us to do and we would appreciate your prayers for them and their families and pray there won’t be any legal issues that often arise in Brazil with this sort of thing.

Thanks for your prayers,

Gary & Sandy, Mishaela, Joshua & Hilary and Mackenzie

PRAISE:
1. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday with Gary’s dad and a staff family. God has given so many gracious gifts!
2. Gary’s dad returned safely from his survey trip with Sipp and two pastors along the Trans Amazon “highway”. They were able to make many good contacts and we are starting to form a plan for how we might help the church expand to the unreached communities there.
3. This week we have had over 400 kids on campus for day camps and many of them made professions of faith.

PRAY:
1. Please continue to pray for Gary’s dad as he adjusts to being without Cleide.
2. This weekend Gary will finish teaching Romans Saturday morning. Then we will drive about five hours to a neighboring state where we will be speaking at a couple’s banquet and then at a church on Sunday. Pray for strength, safety, the car to run well and productive ministry.
3. There are two more weeks of school. Pray for the staff and students to have the strength to finish the semester well.

Thanks for your prayers,
Gary & Sandy,

PRAISE:
1. Last week Tutuca, our camp director’s wife, had her appendix burst and she was 8 months pregnant. It took them 72 hours to discover the problem. It is an amazing miracle that both her and the baby are doing very well.
2. Mackenzie has been feeling much better lately and was able to join the staff from Portugal on an evangelistic trip to Spain for a week.
3. We have been able to negotiate a new deal with our internet provider that should resolve our issues with internet on campus by the end of the year at no cost to us.

PRAY:
1. Gary’s dad, a couple of Pastors and a staff member are taking a two-week trip down the Trans Amazonian highway to survey the need for churches in that area. Pray that they will have safety on precarious roads, gain an accurate vision for what needs to be done and that it will be therapeutic as dad recovers from Cleide's death.
2. This weekend Gary will be teaching the book of Romans all day Saturday at our leadership training school on campus. He is also speaking at our church on Sunday.
3. We are building a new staff house that we need to be ready for the start of school next year as all our housing for staff and married students is full. Pray we can get this accomplished.

Thanks for your prayers,
Gary & Sandy

PRAISE:
1. Cleide is with the Lord. It may seem strange to put this in the Praise section, but we are very happy for her to be done with the suffering on the earth and in the presence of God. She was a blessing to our family and to this ministry in so many ways. Her funeral was honoring to the Lord and impacted the lives of many. She finished well.
2. Last Saturday, right after the funeral, I had the privilege of speaking in an open air evangelistic meeting celebrating 500 years of the Reformation. There were over a thousand that gathered and the response was encouraging.
3. Several weeks ago I asked you to pray for my schedule with the study program that I have started. It has been a very grueling schedule, but I am thoroughly enjoying the studies and have been able to turn everything in on time so far. I have a VERY long way to go still but am happy with the progress.

PRAY:
1. Please pray for Gary’s dad as he adjusts to being a widower again. He is very strong, in good health and has been an example to all of us but I know that he is hurting.
2. This weekend Gary will be teaching the book of Romans all day Saturday at our leadership training school on campus and then he speaks twice on Sunday.
3. Our daughter Mackenzie has been struggling with some health issues in Portugal for the last month. Please pray that she will not be discouraged and that they can find out what is causing her symptoms.

Thanks for your prayers,
Gary & Sandy,

PRAISE:
1. Our trip to speak at the mission’s conference was a great blessing in our lives. The church was so receptive and it was great to get away together for the weekend.
2. The new Evangelism Boat is now on our property on the river and is ready to use as soon as the water levels come up. It is made of aluminum so it should serve for many years.
3. The mission’s conference on campus was great last week. One of our graduates was the speaker so it was extra rewarding to be challenged by a former student.

PRAY:
1. Cleide, Gary’s dad’s wife, has taken a serious turn for the worse. She is now in the ICU on a respirator and her kidneys have stopped functioning. In the last few days her infection has started to get a little better. Her chance of survival is small and if she does pull through her life will be very different. Please pray for the Lord’s will and for grace for all of the family.
2. This weekend is a huge catholic religious festival in our city. About two million people are expected. Our students will be doing evangelism on the streets. Pray for open doors, open hearts, and for the student’s safety and ability to clearly communicate the Gospel.
3. Next week we will be holding Day Camps for kids from the public schools, we are expecting about 400 kids. Pray they will understand and respond to the Gospel.

Thanks for your prayers,
Gary & Sandy,

2. Last weekend Sandy and I were able to attend the 60th Anniversary of Word of Life in Brazil. We are so thankful to be a part of all God is doing through His work here!
3. Yesterday all of our staff and students spent the day cleaning and painting a local school and sharing the Gospel with the staff and students. The school looks so much better and several decisions were made for Christ.
PRAY:
1. This weekend Sandy and I will be driving about four hours to speak at a mission’s conference. Pray for a safe trip and effective ministry.

2. Mishaela has been hired for an entry level position at the Children’s Hunger Fund. We are thankful for this provision for her as well as this ministry opportunity to advance the kingdom.
3. The last couple of weeks we have several unique ministry opportunities. The highlight was getting to be the main speaker at the 50th annual conference for a sister mission here in Belem. Many missionaries from the past were here for the event and it was a great time to be able to be with and minister to such heroes of the faith.

PRAY:
1. About a month ago Sandy started experiencing back pain. After two weeks, we went to the Dr. and then got an MRI. She had 3 vertebrae out of line and was to rest and not bend over or lift any weight and such. On Mother’s Day, the chair she was sitting in tipped over and she hit her tail bone very hard. She is in quite a bit of pain and is growing weary of not being able to move around. Please pray she will be able to handle the pain and recover soon.
